Our Ambassador – Jake Birtwhistle
International Triathlete Jake Birtwhistle has spent his life training and competing as a runner and triathlete.
Jake’s journey with Finance Brokers Tasmania started in 2018 when he was overseas competing. He was looking to purchase his first property in his hometown of Launceston, Tasmania.
He officially came on board as our ambassador in 2019 after we successfully completed his home loan requirements.
Jake’s dedication and hard work is reflected in his numerous achievements and results, but the journey to international sporting success hasn’t been an easy one.
Just like buying a home or starting a business, setting goals, sticking to them and working hard is essential to your success.
‘I train every day in some way or another, and there have been many sacrifices along the way’, said Jake. ‘I started training for triathlons when I was 17, and to compete at an elite level means spending hours training and focusing on a healthy lifestyle that supports your success.’
In 2019, Jake set himself the goal of becoming the World and Olympic Champion at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But, unfortunately, as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the practicality of achieving this came into question.
Jake wasn’t going to let this setback stop him. ‘I was training overseas with my coach and team, with multiple competitions lined up for the year. As the pandemic worsened and more and more events were cancelled, it became clear that the safest course of action was to move home to Tasmania temporarily.’
Despite the challenges, Jake’s training continued, and his eyes remained firmly on the prize of Olympic success. His dedication and persistence paid off, being selected for the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021.
After making us all proud at the Olympics, Jake has represented Australia in many other events worldwide and continues to work and train hard for upcoming events.
We are so privileged to have such a hard-working local like Jake as our brand ambassador, and we look forward to many more years working for him and alongside him.
